Bring A Notebook PC to TMC
If you already have a notebook computer or decide to purchase one before you arrive at The Master's College, it must have the following minimum configuration specifications in order to meet TMC's notebook computer ownership requirement:
- 1.5 GHz IBM-Compatible CPU
- 1 GB RAM
- Microsoft® Windows® XP (Home or Professional)
- 500 MB Free Hard Disk Space
- Built-in 802.11g Wireless or 802.11g Wireless Ethernet Card
Please note that this is the minimum configuration that can be used effectively on our network. We strongly encourage bringing (or purchasing) a system that has a configuration comparable to the TMC Gateway® Notebook listed above. If your current notebook does not meet the above minimum requirements, you will need to upgrade it or purchase a more powerful system before you arrive. If you do not have an 802.11g wireless card, you can purchase one from any computer store.

.Bring a Macintosh® Notebook to TMC
It is possible for us to connect Apple® Macintosh® computers provided that they have a minimum configuration comparable to that described earlier. We recognize that students majoring in some of the emphases in music or communication may prefer to use software which is available only on a Macintosh® system. If you choose to bring a Macintosh® notebook computer to TMC, the minimum specifications are as follows:
- 1.42 MHz G4 Processor or Greater
- 1GB RAM
- Mac OS® X or Greater (v.10.5 or 10.6 Recommended)
- Apple® AirPort® Extreme Wireless or 802.11g Wireless Ethernet Card
In order to connect to TMC's wireless network, we recommend that you bring a Macintosh® notebook with an Apple® AirPort® card installed. If you do not have an 802.11g wireless card, you can purchase one from any computer store.

Student Technology Fee: $75
If you purchase a computer from TMC’s Custom Gateway® Site or have PC or Macintosh® notebook computer that you wish to connect to TMC's wireless network, you will be charged a one-time fee of $75 which provides you with installation and/or configuration of the wireless card (card not included) for our wireless network. This fee also provides for filtered Internet access, ongoing network connectivity and support during your entire time at TMC, and continued development and improvement of TMC’s network services and security. You will be able to use the wireless network on campus anytime during your career as a student at TMS.
When we connect your notebook computer to the wireless network at TMC, we will also check your computer for an anti-virus program with current updates. If you do not have an anti-virus program with a current virus definition subscription, you will be required to purchase one before we connect your computer. Norton® AntiVirus is available at the TMC Campus Bookstore for a discounted educational price.
All fees must be prepaid to the Student Finance Center before any service can be performed. After payment, please bring your receipt to Computer Services.
