Telephone Service
The Master’s College provides telephone service in each dorm room for your convenience. Every dorm room on-campus has one phone number per room and is able to make and receive calls using these services. During your check-in procedures you will receive your phone number based on which room you are in. All that remains is for you to plug in your telephone and start enjoying the convenience of your TMC telephone line!
What Type of Phone to Use on Campus
You can use just about any telephone set on this line that is designed for residential phone service. (“System” phones from a business phone system will not function on your line as these are designed for use on proprietary equipment.) You can use cordless phones on the system, as long as they are not 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz cordless phones. Since these types of cordless phones interfere with the wireless campus network, they are not allowed to be used on campus. If you are not sure whether your phone is a 2.4 GHz, a 5.8 GHz, or a 900 MHz phone (usually a label on the phone itself will indicate) please contact the Help Desk for assistance. We will be glad to try and determine what type of phone you have to insure proper operation within the TMC phone system. Since dormitory phone service is provided by The Master’s College, any and all problems and difficulties with that service can be handled with one phone call to the Help Desk at extension 2876 or call us directly at 661-362-2876.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL ON-CAMPUS PHONE USERS:
Because your phone is connected through our campus phone system, it is necessary for you to dial a “9“ before dialing calls to off-campus numbers. The “9“ basically tells the system, “I want to make a call to an off-campus number.“ The flip side of this is that if you are calling another person on-campus, either a friend in the dorms, or a faculty or staff number, you need only dial their four digit extension. To call dormitory residents, simply dial the last four digits of their campus number--that is, omit the 362 prefix.
