From the TMC Library Web site the TMCS community has access to all of the library’s databases described below.  All of these databases are accessible from off campus as well as on campus using your institutional MasterNet id and password.

To access these databases go to http://www.masters.edu.  From the menu on the left select “Campus Services” and then select “Library” [or go directly to http://www.masters.edu/library].  Once at the library Web site select “Databases/Indexes”.

ABI Inform provides abstracts of articles on business and management from U.S. and international professional publications, academic journals, and trade magazines.  Offers the full text of some articles.

�Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost) 1985 to present

Academic Search is a multi-disciplinary, article index covering virtually every area of academic study, with full text for nearly 4,700 publications including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for nearly 8,200 journals in the collection.

Arts and Humanities Citation Index provides citations and abstracts to the world's leading arts and humanities journals with select articles in the social sciences and sciences

�Alt Health Watch (EBSCOhost) 1990 to present

Alternative Health Watch provides full text for more than 140 publications across the full spectrum of subject areas covered by complementary and alternative medicine dating back to 1990 including many peer-reviewed journals.

�AltPressIndex (FirstSearch) 1991 to present

Alternative Press Index is a comprehensive guide to alternative, radical and left sources of information.  Coverage is international and interdisciplinary and provides in-depth coverage in the humanities and social sciences. 

AltPressIndex Archive (FirstSearch) 1969-1990

Alternative Press Index Archive indexes journals covering cultural, economic, political & social change including these subject areas:  anarchism, democracy, ecology, economics, feminism, indigenous peoples, labor, national liberation, socialism - theory and practice.

America:  History and Life (ABC-Clio) prehistory to present

America:  History and Life provides indexing and abstracting coverage of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present.

�American National Biography 1450 to 2001

ANB is the premier biographical resource for notable people in American history (only dead people, but all genders and ethnicities).

�Annals of American History Online (Britannica) 1493 to present

Annals of American History explores the history of the United States through speeches, historical accounts, memoirs, poems, images and multimedia.

�ArticleFirst (FirstSearch) 1990 to present

Article First is an OCLC index of articles from the contents pages of select journals. Includes items listed on the table of contents pages of journals covering these areas business, humanities, medicine, popular culture, science, social science, technology.  For most of the items in this indexing tool a list of libraries that have the journal title is also provided.

�ATLA/ATLAS (FirstSearch) 1949 to present

The American Theological Library Association database includes Religion Index One (RIO) which indexes several thousand religious magazines and journals, Religion Index Two (RIT) which indexes multi-author works and Index to Book Reviews in Religion (IBBR).  The ATLAS database provides the full-text of many of these religious resources.

�BasicBIOSIS (FirstSearch) Current year and most recent four update years.

Basic BIOSIS includes popular and scholarly science journals written for undergraduate non-biology majors from virtually every life science discipline including:  agriculture, biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, botany, ecology, environment, genetics, medicine, neuroscience, nutrition, physiology, public health.

�Biography Resource Center

Biography Resource Center is a comprehensive full-text database of biographical information on people from throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and subject areas.

�BioDigest (FirstSearch) 1989 to present

Biology Digest provides detailed abstracts of life-science information written in a non-technical style including these subject areas: botany, environmental science, health, life sciences, medicine, and zoology.

�Books in Print (FirstSearch)

Descriptions of in-print, out-of-print, and forthcoming books, audios, and videos from North American publishers and U.S. distributors and wholesalers. It also includes thousands of full-text book reviews from sources including Choice, Kirkus, Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, and School Library Journal.

�BusDateline (FirstSearch) 1985 to present

Business Dateline provides online articles from regional publications, Business Wire press releases, and major newspapers and includes information about library resources that describe regional business activities and trends and major stories on local firms, their products, and executives.  Subjects covered include company profiles, corporate planning, executive profiles, financial services, human resources, marketing, real estate, regional business environments, research and development, high technology, service industries and transportation.

�BusIndustry (FirstSearch) 1994 to present

Business & Industry contains important facts, figures and key events for international public and private companies, industries, products, and markets for manufacturing and service industries.   It covers all the primary business information sources--from leading trade magazines, newsletters, and the general business press to international business dailies.

BusinessOrgs (FirstSearch) Current year

Business Organizations, Agencies & Publications Directory of organizations that serve business and industry includes abstracts in most records describing the organization's products and services and gives other information about the organization, such as founding date, membership size, and publications.

�Business Source Premier varied dates of coverage

Business Source provides the full text for nearly 8,200 serials back to 1965 including full text for more than 1,100 peer-reviewed business publications. It also contains PDF for more than 350 of the top scholarly journals dating as far back as 1922 and searchable cited references back as far as 1998.  Coverage includes virtually all subject areas related to business.

�Bus/Management (FirstSearch) 1995 to present

Business and Management Practices contains articles about the practical aspects of business management issues and business practices including:  benchmark planning, best practices, business plans, corporate culture, expansion, long range planning, quality control, reengineering, resources case studies and guidelines, technology.

Christian Periodical Index 1956 to present

CPI provides citation indexing to English language articles and reviews written from an evangelical perspective.  Coverage is representative of the major doctrinal positions within evangelical Christianity.

Clase and Periodica (FirstSearch) Clase: 1975 to present; Periodica: 1978 to present

Index of Latin American journals in the sciences and humanities published in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English languages. Contains information from articles, essays, book reviews, monographs, conference proceedings, technical reports, interviews and brief notes published in journals edited in 24 different countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as from publications that focus on Pan-American issues.

�Classic Protestant Texts

Classic Protestant Texts is a uniquely exhaustive resource for study in the religious and social upheavals of the 16th and 17th centuries.  This database gives researchers access to an extensive range of seminal works from the Reformation and post-Reformation eras and offers a constantly growing treasury of theological writings, biblical commentaries, confessional documents, and polemical treatises written by more than 300 Protestant authors.

Classical Music Library is the world's first classical music listening service for libraries. It contains a growing collection of 27,000-plus tracks for listening and searching with 1000s of program notes and biographies and 100s of music playlists.  Users can see a list of all the works by a particular composer and view all the available recordings.  All music is legally licensed from leading recording labels and artists.

Clinical Pharmacology provides access to up-to-date, concise and clinically-relevant drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new and investigational drugs.

Computer Science Index covers computer science at the highest scholarly and technical levels.  Subject areas include artificial intelligence, expert systems, system design, data structures, computer theory, computer systems and architecture, software engineering, human-computer interaction, new technologies, social and professional context, and much more.

�ConsumerIndex (FirstSearch) 1986 to present

Consumers Index provides access to information about evaluations, tests, alerts, warnings, and recalls of specific products, services, and facilities.  It abstracts articles on all aspects of consumerism and consumer protection with links to the best Internet resources and print publications for consumers offering free, direct access to the contents of full-text journals (e.g., FDA Consumer), news releases, booklets, recalls, and other sources available via the World Wide Web.

�CQ Researcher (Congressional Quarterly) 1991 to present

Formerly Editorial Research Reports this weekly publication covers the most current and controversial issues of the day with complete summaries, insight into all sides of the issues.  It offers in-depth, non-biased coverage of political and social issues, with regular reports on topics in health, international affairs, education, the environment, technology and the U.S. economy.

�CQWeekly (Congressional Quarterly) 1983 to present

Nonpartisan news and analysis of the U.S. Congress: status of bills, votes and amendments, floor and committee activity.

�CWI (FirstSearch) 1992 to present

Contemporary Women’s Issues provides full-text access to global information on the health and human rights of women in over 150 countries.  It indexes books, journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies, and fact sheets.

�Dictionary of National Biography

DNB provides biographies of people who shaped the history of the British Isles and beyond, from the earliest times to the year 2002. No living person is included in the dictionary.

�Disclosure (FirstSearch) 1986 to present

Disclosure Corporate Snapshots is a directory of information on companies publicly traded on U.S. exchanges and contains information about all public company filings including annual reports, company summary information, and shareholder reports.  It also includes information from public documents maintained by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and offers daily updates of stock trading reports.

�Early American Imprints, Series I: Evans 1639-1800

Evans Collection of books, pamphlets, broadsides and other imprints are from those listed in the renowned bibliography by Charles Evans.

�Early English Books Online - Biblical Studies Topical Collection 1475-1700

EEBO is digitized from the UMI® Early English Books collection in microform. The Biblical Studies Topical Collection includes every work listed in the Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640), Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700), and the Thomason Tracts (1640-1661) on the following subjects: Sermons, Hermeneutics, Commentaries, Interpretation and Bibles.

�EBSCO Animals (EBSCOhost)

EBSCO Animals provides in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals.

Electronic Collections Online is an OCLC collection of scholarly journals covering these areas of research: agriculture, anthropology, business, economics, education, fine arts, geography, history, language, law, library science, literature, medicine, philosophy, political science, psychology, religion, science, social science and technology.

�EconLit (FirstSearch) 1969 to present

EconLit provides citations for dissertations and articles in journals, books and working papers on economics.

�Encyclopaedia Britannica Online

The complete encyclopædia, with related Internet sites and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary the leading online dictionary, now with pronunciation guides

�ERIC (FirstSearch) 1966 to present

ERIC contains annotated references to non-journal material issued in the monthly Resources in Education (RIE) and to journal articles issued in the monthly Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE).

EssayGenLit (FirstSearch) 1985 to present

Essay and General Literature Index enables the searcher to find contents in collected works focusing on humanities and social sciences.  It cites essays and articles contained in collections of essays and other works published in the United States, Great Britain and Canada particularly in these areas: archaeology, architecture, art, children's literature, classical studies, drama, economics, fiction, film, folklore, history, linguistics, music, poetry, political science, religion and women's studies.

�FactSearch (FirstSearch) 1984 to present

FactSearch is a specialized database of full-text statistical statements on current social, economic, political, health, and environmental issues and public policy topics, excerpted from more than 1,100 mainstream and alternative serial sources.

Funk & Wagnall’s New World Encyclopedia: Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries.

�GeoBase (FirstSearch) 1980 to present

GeoBase indexes worldwide literature on geography, geology, and ecology covering journals, books, monographs, conference proceedings, and reports in these subject areas: cartography, climatology, energy, environment, geochemistry, geomorphology, geophysics, hydrology, meteorology, paleontology, petrology, photogrammetry, sedimentology and volcanology.

GPOMonthly (FirstSearch) 1976 to present

Government Printing Office Monthly covers all types of U.S. government documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records; judiciary materials; and documents issued by executive departments (Defense, State, Labor, Office of the President, etc.).  All U.S. government documents are in the public domain; there are no copyright restrictions.

Guide to Social Sciences and Religion in Periodical Literature

GSSR indexes several hundred journals in the areas of religion and the social sciences.

Health Source Consumer provides information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health.

Lexis/Nexis Academic provides full-text access to a wide range of news, business, legal, medical and reference information.

Literature Online provides the primary text of English and American literature from the year 600 to the present day (poetry, drama, prose), plus biographical and bibliographical information and key works of criticism and reference.

�Literature Resource Center

Literature Resource Center provides biographies, criticisms and bibliographies of authors from all genres of literature.

�MAS Ultra - School Edition (EBSCOhost)

MAS Ultra Designed specifically for high school libraries, this database provides full text for over 500 popular general interest and current events publications with information dating back as far as 1975 for key magazines. It also provides nearly 550 full text pamphlets, 252 full text reference books, nearly 100,000 biographies, 76,000 primary source documents, and an image collection of 116,000 photos, maps and flags.

Media Review Digest provides reviews educational media and entertainment resources.

MEDLINE corresponds to the print indexes Index Medicus, Index to Dental Literature, and International Nursing Index which cover all areas of medicine, including dentistry and nursing.

�Military & Government Collection (EBSCOhost)

Military & Government Collection is designed to offer current news pertaining to all branches of the military and government.  It provides cover-to-cover full text for nearly 300 journals and periodicals and indexing and abstracts for nearly 400 titles.

National Newspapers (Proquest) Varied holdings.

New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal abstracted and indexed.

�²NAXOS Music Library

Naxos streaming audio service covers the full spectrum of the classical repertoire, and is supplemented by CDs from the Marco Polo label and the Danish national recording label Dacapo. More recently Naxos has broadened its perspective with subsidiary labels that focus on jazz, New Age, and world music.

�²NAXOS Jazz (Fantasy Jazz Catalogue)

Naxos Music Library Jazz is one of the most comprehensive collections of Jazz music available online. It offers close to 20,000* tracks of jazz from over 1,850* albums. Naxos Spoken Word provides a vast range of literature and poetry from medieval times to the twentieth century. Many texts are available to follow on screen and can also be printed out. However, it is not possible to download or burn to CD any content on Naxos Spoken Word Library. Users can easily gain online access to the catalogue number of the disc needed, and purchase it at a local record store, or order it through online retailers which you can find on the website www.naxos-audiobooks.com.

New Testament Abstracts (EBSCOhost) 1985 to the present

NTA provides abstracts of articles, reviews, books and software are selected for inclusion from more than 500 periodicals in numerous languages covering the New Testament and its historical milieu. NewsAbs (FirstSearch) 1989 to present

Newspaper Abstracts indexes and provides abstracts to significant items from over 50 U.S. national and regional newspapers including news articles, reviews, editorials, commentaries, editorial cartoons, and other items.

Newspaper Source provides selected full text coverage for more than 25 newspapers and other sources.  This collection includes cover-to-cover full text for USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor and The Times (London) as well as selected full text from more than 200 regional newspapers. Full text transcripts are also included from Face the Nation, CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, 60 Minutes, O'Reilly Factor, Hannity & Colmes, National Public Radio, etc.

Old Testament Abstracts (EBSCOhost) 1978 to present

OTA is intended for clergy and scholars of the Old Testament and its historical milieu including intertestamental, apocrypha and New Testament use: Qumran, other writings/traditions.

�Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center is a dynamic online library of current event topics--the facts as well as the arguments of each topic's proponents and detractors.  It provides electronic access to a reference program of statistics, government data, legislation and more.       

�Oxford English Dictionary

The OED is the accepted authority on the evolution of the English language over the last millennium. It is an unsurpassed guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of words, both present and past.

�Oxford Reference Online – Premium

Oxford Reference Online contains over 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press. It is a fully-indexed, cross-searchable database.

�Oxford Scholarship Online – Political Studies

The very best scholarly books in the humanities and social sciences are searchable in this online database.  The full text of Oxford titles in Political Science is available along with abstracting of over 700 key Oxford titles in Economics and Finance, Philosophy and Religion with an additional 200 titles added annually.

PapersFirst (FirstSearch) 1993 to present

PapersFirst is an OCLC index of papers presented at conferences worldwide and covers every published congress, symposium, conference, exposition, workshop and meeting received by The British Library Document Supply Centre.  A wide variety of subjects are discussed at the covered meetings.

Periodical Abstracts (FirstSearch) 1986 to present

Contains abstracts from over 2,100 general and academic journals covering these subject areas: business, economics, literature, psychology, religion and women's studies.  It also contains records for transcripts of significant segments of more than 80 news- and lifestyle-oriented television and radio programs.

Philosopher's Index (CSA) 1940 to present

Philosopher’s Index is a bibliographic database with abstracts covering scholarly research in all areas of philosophy. It includes journal articles, books, book chapters such as contributions to an anthology, and book reviews.

�Primary Search (EBSCOhost) 1990 to present

Primary Search provides full text for more than 50 popular, magazines for elementary school research dating back to 1990. All full text articles included in the database are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles).

Proceedings (FirstSearch) 1993 to present

An OCLC index of worldwide conference proceedings this database covers every published congress, symposium, conference, exposition, workshop and meeting received by The British Library Document Supply Centre and each record contains a list of the papers presented at each conference.

�Proquest Dissertations and Theses 1861 to the present.

Proquest Dissertations indexes more than 2 million doctoral dissertations and master's theses with more than 600,000 available in native or image PDF formats for immediate free download.

xReferPlus is an online reference library that provides access to a selection of several hundred reference books in the form of encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri and books of quotations.  Included is a broad range of subject-specific titles covering everything from art to technology.
