Printers on CampusThere are several printing options available for students on the TMC campus. High speed (45 pages per minute) Sharp P450 black and white laser printers are located in the lobbies of
Hotchkiss,
Dixon,
Waldock,
Sweazy, and
Smith dorms. For your convenience, student printers are also available in the
Library,
Student Center, and
Biblical Studies Center office.
Color Printing, Scanning, and Copying on CampusAdditionally, we are offering color printing and color copying in the Library copy room at the cost of $.15 per 8.5" x 11" color copy or page printed. Black and white copies will be available for $.05. The library copy center is also offering self-serve b/w and color scanning to email for all students that have paid the Student Technology Fee. For more copying or scanning information, please ask the library staff.
Print Costs and Purchasing Additional PagesYou will be able to access the new printers via the wireless network.
An allowance of 300 b/w pages (a $15 credit) will be included as a benefit of the per-semester technology fee for all Traditional Undergraduate Students*. Your balance will be deducted
$.05 for each 8.5" x 11" b/w page printed and
$.15 for each 8.5" x 11" color page printed from the library color printer. If your printing needs surpass this amount, you will be able to purchase additional pages from the Student Finance Center or
Library Circulation Desk in the amount of $2(40 pages b/w pages), $5(100 pages), or $10(200 pages).
Checking Your Print Balance:You can check your print balance by logging on to
MasterNet, going to
IQ.Web and clicking on
Printer Usage under
Account Information.
Please note that your print balance including any additionally purchased pages will be reset at the end of each school year after the conclusion of post session. Unused balances from the Fall semester will be carried over to the the Spring semester. Option to Bring Your Own PrinterAs an added convenience, you have the option to bring your own small personal printer and have it easily accessible in your dorm room. Please keep in mind that you will have limited desk-space in your dorm room.
Please note that if you bring your own printer and choose not to use the school dorm printers, you will not be refunded your per-semester printing allowance, nor will you be allowed to take paper from the student printers for your use.Personal laser printers can be purchased for around $100 from an online or retail discount computer store such as
Fry's,
Newegg.com, or
PC Connection. If you think you will need regular capability to print color documents, you should consider bringing an inkjet-type color printer with you. Be cautious about purchasing an ultra low-priced printer that has expensive replacement cartridges. It is strongly advisable to look over some product reviews from sources such as
CNET,
PC Magazine, and
Tom's Hardware Guide before making a purchase. TMC does not specifically endorse any particular brand or model of printer mentioned in the above buying guides and reviews.
Computer Services does not offer any printer tech support for student owned printers. Students bringing their own printers to campus will be responsible for their own troubleshooting and tech support, which can be obtained from the printer manufacturer.
