Insurance Requirements and Important Insurance Information



All students are required to be covered by medical/accident insurance, whether it is through the College’s medical insurance plan or their own. During the registration process, the College insurance premium will be charged to your account unless you check the waiver and mail a copy of the front and backside of your insurance card to the Health Center. The insurance should cover your son/daughter in California and pay 80% of the medical charges.

Parents, if your son/daughter is covered under your insurance policy make sure you give them their insurance card, if you do not have a card for them, make a copy of your insurance card and give them a copy.



Students who have a PPO (Preferred Provider Option) or POS (Point of Service) are accepted by many medical facilities. You may call your insurance company and request a list of local providers in Santa Clarita (Newhall, Valencia, and Canyon Country).



Students who have an EPO or Elect Choice can only be seen at their assigned medical group. If their provider is not local, they can only be seen in the emergency room.



Students who have an HMO plan (Health Maintenance Organization) may contact their insurance company and request to be transferred to a local primary care provider, prior to their arrival on campus. If their insurance cannot transfer them to a local provider, they can only be seen in the emergency room (very time-consuming if it is not an emergency).



Students who have Kaiser insurance in Northern California may contact (888) 778-5000 and request a Southern California medical record I.D. number. Students with Kaiser insurance from another state may call (800) 464-4000 and request a Southern California I.D. number. Kaiser has the following facilities in the area:
