TMC Theatre Arts Overview

TMC Theatre Arts has been dubbed “The People’s Theatre.” Its participants and contributors span across all disciplines, dorms, and interests at TMC.

Following a successful opening season in 2008, the theatre department continues to be an amazing tool in the hands of the Lord in so many lives. We have seen the Lord display Himself in remarkable ways, showing how even a school play can be eternally significant. Lives are being changed, attitudes and perspectives altered and love for the Lord and for each other keeps growing. Our productions beautifully illustrate how life is a precious gift and must be used for God’s glory and His purpose and not be wasted!

Opportunities to be involved include acting, stage managing, lighting, sound, scenery design, costuming, and makeup. Our commitment to the process as much as the product enables us to have an others-focused theatre department. This pervades all of these areas as we strive together to serve one another using our varied giftedness.

We are excited to see how God continues to grow the program as those involved seek to serve and honor Him first and foremost through the medium of good theatre as a gift to the audience with no compromise of who we are as children of God.

Meet the Directors

Tricia Hulet
Director of TMC Theatre Arts

Tricia developed a love for theatre at a young age and has been involved in various capacities since. She held leading roles in several major productions including Anne of Green Gables, A Little Princess, Fiddler on the Roof, and the musical version of The Secret Garden. Tricia began directing shows in 2004 for a Christian high school before being brought on at TMC in 2007 to revive TMC Theatre Arts and has been an active member of Canyon Theatre Guild. As a graduate of TMC (MA Biblical Counseling in progress; BA Biblical Counseling/minor in Music), she values the performing arts as a means to reflect our Creator and as a way to serve and impact the kingdom of God. She has seen TMC Theatre Arts function as a refining tool in many lives - shaping and sharpening hearts to live in light of the Gospel we have been graciously saved by - and used to build another example of biblical community that is a bright light to the watching world. Helping students round out their biblical worldview in the area of performing arts is a joy and blessing.

“To the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.” Jude 25
Kellie Cunningham
Associate Director of TMC Theatre Arts

Kellie has always loved the dramatic. Having the opportunity to serve in directorial roles for TMC Theatre Arts is a delightful expression of her enjoyment of art and creativity as it reflects her Creator. She recognizes that even theatre can be a temporal tool in the Potter’s hands to mold and shape his children into his likeness. She pursues similar goals in teaching piano and piano pedagogy as an Instructor at TMC, having received her Masters in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication and Music from The Master’s College. Kellie has served as both Director and Assistant Director for TMC Theatre Arts since 2008. As a student, she performed roles in the musicals My Fair Lady, The Secret Garden, and Fiddler on the Roof. She currently also runs a private piano studio in SCV and adjudicates for local music events. Kellie has presented nationally on piano pedagogy topics, has received numerous awards including the Gail Boyd de Stwolinski award for Excellence in Teaching, and even recorded as a solo vocalist on a Grammy-Award-winning album. She is a member of the Canyon Theatre Guild, the Music Teacher’s National Association, the Music Teachers Association of California, and the California Scholarship Federation.

Kellie is committed to seeing the arts as one way to express the beauty of Christ’s sacrifice to a dying world.

"I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name forever. Psalm 34:1-3
