Basic Position Description:

The Master’s College seeks a versatile and dynamic professional to chair its Department of Computer and Information Sciences. The faculty member will be expected to teach Computer Science and Information Systems courses in the CIS department. This position begins July, 2011.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Oversee both the Computer Science and Information Systems emphases in within the CIS program, performing the leadership role of department chair, including: strategic planning for the major, scheduling department courses, hiring and assigning part-time faculty, assigning advisees to faculty, and managing the departmental budget.
2. Teach a schedule of classes consisting of approximately 21 semester units per year.
3. Provide academic advisement and support to the personal development of the students.
4. Complete the normal departmental and institutional administrative duties such as attending faculty meetings, textbook ordering, and coordination of the scheduling of classes.
5. Assume supplementary responsibilities that will include participation in at least two academic committee assignments.
6. Perform other related duties as established or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. A doctoral degree in a Computer Science or Information Systems field. Individuals with a master’s degree with strong preparation and promise will also be considered.
2. Vocational and/or teaching experience in the CIS field.
3. Ability to develop and oversee the CIS program.
4. Ability to effectively teach CIS courses.
5. A strong commitment to the doctrinal position and philosophy of the teaching ministry of The Master’s College.
6. Ability to teach students effectively, evaluate their performance, and create a supportive learning environment.
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
8. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, and students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
9. Evidence of a mature Christian lifestyle by active involvement in a conservative evangelical local church.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation is commensurate with that of other faculty positions at The Master`s College based upon the selected applicant’s qualifications and experience. Medical and dental benefits are provided for a nominal employee contribution. TMC participates in the TIAA/CREF retirement program.
